Sign up for free language conversation groups at the UBC Learning Exchange!

You can learn and practice English here. We are welcoming and friendly.

Volunteers from the Downtown Eastside community host the ESL conversation groups. The volunteers help you to practice. The volunteers also share their language skills and knowledge about Vancouver with you.

Who can come to the conversation groups?

Our ESL conversation groups are open to Canadian citizens, immigrants and refugees, aged 18 years or older. Conversation groups are free.

How many people are in each group?

Conversation groups are small. Usually, there are 6-10 people.

How long are the conversation groups?

Each conversation group lasts 75 minutes. Usually, people come once a week.

When and where are the conversation groups?

Conversation groups are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Learning Exchange at 612 Main Street.
